The Sagarmatha National Park has been a popular and one of the best destinations for the climbers and trekkers since the first south expedition to Mt. Everest on 1950. Everest Three High Passes Trek is an adventure trek of Nepal which includes the crossing of the Renjo La pass (5360m), Cho-La pass (5420m), Kongma-La Pass (5535m) and other attraction for the trekkers such as Gokyo Ri (5,360m), Fifth Lake in Gokyo valley, Kalapathar (5,545m) and Everest Base Camp (5,320m) . The amazing landscape views during the trek is unbeatable. More importantly, you should have physically fit to complete these passes. The three passes trek offers unique views of four giant mountains above 8,000m; Mt.Cho Oyu (8,201m), Mt. Makalu (8,463m), Mt. Lhotse (8,516 m) and Mt. Everest (8,848m). This trekking introduces us to the remote valley named as Nangpa La, monastery village of Thame and the Sherpa village of Marlung.

Now, we steep up all the way to Dingboche 4410 m for Kongma-La Pass 5535 m via Tengboche 3860 m. Khongma-La pass gives a lifetime memories of panoramic views of the spectacular Himalayas. Kongma-La Pass is the highest pass among these three passes with an altitude of 5535 m. From Dingboche we again ascend up and after crossing Khongma-la via High Camp we reach to Lobuche 4910 m. From Lobuche we trek continue our trek to Gorekshep situated at the height of 5140 m. Gorekshep is a junction point to Kalapathar and Everest Basecamp. For the close and unbeatable view of Mt. Everest we take our way to Kalapathar. Later we descend through the same route to Gorekshep and from Gorekshepwe take the ascending trail to Everest Base Camp through the once vast Gorak Shep Lake. Continuing the trek, we climb up toward The Everest Basecamp 5365 from where we can see the hazardous route of Everest i.e. Khumbu Icefall by which brave climbers pass through. From EBC we descend to Lobuche and we will chase to Cho-La pass 5420 m. This pass in the hardest pass among all thee. It starts from nearly from Locbuche kharka and ends at Thangnak. On the way to Thangnag Kharka via Dzonglha 4830m we see The Awi peak 5245 m, Lobuche Peak, Nirekha Peak and many more. After exploring the places of Everest Region, our trek continues to Gokyo. Trek to the fourth and fifth lakes would be an extra attraction in Gokyo Valley from where the views are amazing. Then We climb the Gokyo ri, The Gokyo Ri 5330 m is considered as the best viewpoint of the entire Himalayas in the Everest Region. Now, we ascend our way to High Camp through Renjo-La pass 5360 m. Renjo-La pass offers us a lifetime memory of panoramic scenery of Himalayan range. From High Camp we descend all the way to Thame via Lungdhen 4380 m and Murlung 4210 m. Then We trek down to Lukla via Namche Bazaar making a circle to complete the 3 passes and trip in the Himalayas complemented by the hundreds of memories and huge sense of accomplishment.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, received by 
North Pole Trekking Pvt. Ltd. staff with a warm welcome and transfer to respective hotels with a briefing regarding Everest high three passes trek, hotels, lodge on the route with do and don’ts with evening group welcome dinner.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,610 m - 04 hrs.

Mornings, flight to Lukla with views of the mountain range, after 30 mins of great flight reaching Lukla, with short break trek towards Phakding village for an overnight stop through farm villages, a moderate walk with few short ups overlooking beautiful scenery along the route to Phakding located by Dudh Kosi River.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.

After a nice morning, walk continues crossing bridges over Dudh Kosi River passing several interesting villages of Toc-Toc, Bhenkar and Monjo arriving at Sagarmatha National Park entrance gate, from here on the river bed for few hours and after the last bridge a steep uphill to Namche Bazaar, at Namche with facilities of good restaurant, pubs, cyber café, post office, and banks.

Day 04: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

A perfect place for rest day for proper acclimatization before heading higher area, morning a short hike to Everest View Hotel or walk up on top a hill of Namche for views of Everest, Amadablam and adjoining peaks, visit the museum.

Day 05: Trek to Tengboche 3,867 m - 05hrs.

From Namche on the gradual scenic path with downhill to Imjatse river at Phunge-Tenga for lunch, and then uphill through rhododendron, pines, firs tree forest with views of snowcapped peaks. On reaching Tengboche visit famous Buddhist monastery with the magnificent panorama of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Kangtenga, Thamasarku, Kwande and majestic Amadablam.

Day 06: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m - 05hrs.

Morning downhill walk for few hours over Imjatse River, after the bridge walk on an open country where tree lines fade for few short juniper and dwarf rhododendron bushes, uphill for a while to reach at Pangboche village at 3,900 meters. Last permanent village before Dingboche and beyond, from here a slow climb to Somara for lunch and continue to walk with a climb to Dingboche village for an overnight stop, located in Imjatse Valley with the panorama of mountains.

Day 07: Rest day at Dingboche for acclimatization and excursion.

Another rest day for proper acclimatization, a short hike to Nakarjung hills for best views of Mt. Makalu and other adjoining.

Day 08: Trek to Chhukung 4,750m - 04 hrs.

From Dingboche a short walk to Chhukung last settlement of Khumbu area around Imjatse Valley with grand scenery of snowcapped mountains with Mt. Makalu towards east. At Chhukung afternoon free or hike to Chhukung Ri for more super views of the mountains and preparation for next early morning adventure towards Kongma-la pass.

Day 09: Trek to Kongmo-la 5,535m and to Lobuche 4,928m - 08 hrs.

After the wonderful stop in Chhukung, a Big Day! Start early before dawn with a climb on icy path, walking on rocky trail beneath Kongma-la and its peak Kongma or Mehra, after a good rest, cross over Kongma-la pass at 5,535 m / 18,159 ft hidden between great Nuptse wall, Mehara and Pokalde peaks. After a tough climb towards Khumbu glacier and moraine one has to be careful here on the misleading after descending the walk leads on the path to a short steep climb up to the terminal debris of Khumbu Glacier to reach at Lobuche for overnight stop in the comfort of a cozy lodge after great full day walk.

Day 10: Trek to Gorak Shep 5,170 m and Everest Base Camp 5,364 m and return to Gorakshep - 06 hrs.

Today reach another highlight of this adventure to Everest Base Camp, walk for few hours with a short steep climb in between over glacier and moraine, reaching Gorakshep, beneath Mt. Pumori and Kalapathar. The walk continues towards Everest Base Camp, at base camp enjoy the view of notorious Kuhmbu Ice Fall and glaciers, from here back to Gorakshep for the overnight halt.

Day 11: Hike to Kalapatther 5,545 m/18 and walk to Dzongla 4,830m - 06 hrs.

Early hike to Kalapatthar hill top, a black rocky ridge at 5,545 meters high, offering the panorama of surrounding giant peaks with Mt. Everest at close distance, then head back to Gorakshep, continue trek downhill to reach base of Cho-la pass at Dzongla for an overnight stop.

Day 12: Dzongla to Cho-la pass 5,367m/17604ft, walk down to Thanknak 4,750m - 07 hrs.

Second Big Day of the adventure, cross high Cho-la pass ( Tsho-la) leading to a steep up and then crossing the glacier on the eastern side. The top of the pass at 5,367m sometimes quite challenging to cross in snow conditions, the top offers views of mountains and of Cholatse Glacier then descend carefully to Thanknak for overnight stop after a hard and steady climb over the second pass of this adventure.

Day 13: Trek to Gokyo 4,750 m/15, 580ft, climb to Gokyo Ri 5357m/ 17570ft - 06 hrs.

After a great crossing over Cho-la pass, morning an easy walk following main Gokyo trail at the foot of the Ngozumba glacier. Slowly walk leads at Gokyo Lake also called Dudh Pokhari the bank of the shore is summer settlement of Gokyo at 4,790 meters.

Day 14: At Gokyo rest to visit fifth lake - 05 hrs round trip.

Morning an option for a hike to Gokyo Ri at 5,357m another highlight of this adventure, Gokyo Ri offers breathtaking scenery panorama of world’s highest peak from Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and to the east Mt. Makalu. After a grand vista descend to Gokyo and marvel the surrounding awesome views. Another option excursion to Gokyo 5th Lake a 5 hours of round trips, needs pack lunch as the walk leads at the base of Cho-Oyu world 6th highest mountain straddles the border with Nepal / Tibet, with views of Mt. Everest, Changtse and towering ice wall of Cho-Oyu.

Day 15: Gokyo to Renjo-la 5360m/17585ft, and descend to Marlung 4,210m - 07 hrs.

Last 3 high pass of this adventure a Big Day ! starting before dawn leaving Gokyo towards the last pass of this adventure, walk follows the path at the end of Gokyo Lake, the route to the pass offers marvelous views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse and Taboche, and then crossing Renjo La pass at 5,465 m / 17,929 ft, one of the most difficult section of this adventure, on reaching the top with breathtaking panorama of Mt. Cho-Oyu and other high surrounding peaks, after enjoying the views. After a pleasant break walk follows leading to frozen ponds beneath Renjo La pass, and then a long descend reaching a small settlement at Lungdeng which is near to Nangpa-la pass towards Tibet. The walk continues to reach Marlung village for overnight stop above Bhote Koshi River up streams.

Day 16: Trek to Thame 3,880 m - 05 hrs.

An easy walk after a long tough day in achieving our goal completing all three great high passes of Khumbu, from Marlung our route leads visiting villages of Thyangmoche and Hungmo, and then walk through several scattered Sheppard’s huts and Yak grazing pasture as the path leads to Thame village an isolated village located on oute to Tashi Labtsa / Gaurishanker and to Tibet area.

Day 17: Trek to Monjo 2,860m via Namche Bazaar - 06 hrs.

After reaching outskirt of Thame village a short uphill and gradual walk to Thamo with hydro power of Namche and other Khumbu villages, a good walk leads back into green woodland of tall pines and rhododendron tree lines as the path approach to Namche Bazaar. From here retrace the journey back to Monjo near Sagarmatha National Park gate for overnight stop.

Day 18: Trek to Lukla - 04 hrs.

Morning walk reaching at Phakding from here retrace the journey back to Lukla with last climb, on reaching Lukla celebrate last night dinner with fellow trekkers and staff.

Day 19: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.

From Lukla taking an early morning flight back to Kathmandu with views of mountains, at Kathmandu domestic airport our staff transfers you back to respective hotels with rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 20: In Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.

A spare day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay and cancellation due to unfavorable bad weather which might occur, as the Himalayan weather can be unpredictable sometimes if all goes well have a free day or sightseeing tour of Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.

Day 21: International departure homeward bound.

Today, last day in amazing Nepal with great experience and fond memories of Everest High Three Pass trekking, as per your time for international flight, North Pole Trekking Pvt. Ltd. staff transfer you to airport for your final departure homeward bound or to your next destinations.

Doing treks in Himalayas of Nepal is the distinct culture and environment. Trekkers need to consider on following do’s and don’ts.
  • Do smile and greet the local people with saying “Namaste” and “Tashidelek” to show respect.
  • Do walk in a group or keep a distance that you could see your front and behind fellow.
  • Do consult with your trekking guide before trying anything new during the trek.
  • Do ask question to the guide for the next day trekking necessity, so that you could pack in your small backpack because rest baggage will carry by porter and will get only in the evening.
  • Do give donation to the monastery in the trekking area where they don’t collect tickets from the visitors but there is a donation box.
  • Do inform your trekking guide if you are not comfortable with your health while approaching higher altitude.
  • Don’t under estimate the local culture and belief even if you find uncomfortable with it.
  • Don’t take a picture of the people without their permission during the trek because some individual don’t like that.
  • Don’t be strange if local people stare at you because they are surprise to see you, not with a bad intention.
  • Don’t expect too many facilities in the trekking areas, most places provide you only the basic facilities.
  • Don’t harm wild animals, birds and plants during the trek and take a global responsibility to save the environment.
  • Don’t give money to the children and the beggars; it encourages them to beg from the visitors.

Although, we generally adhere to the schedule, the itinerary is subject to change for numerous reasons beyond our control, including weather and terrain conditions, suitable campsite availability, and the group's general fitness level. It is important to understand that our trek is logistically complex and it is not unusual that adjustments be made. Our guide will orient you each evening to the following day's plan; their good judgment is the key to the long history of successful treks that Himalayan Wander Walkers has led till now. Please remember that our ability to make adjustments as needed helps to ensure that your trek is successful.
